Water Trails in Land Between the Lakes
Water trails at Land Between the Lakes are designated routes for non-motorized paddling, including kayaks and canoes. Developed in partnership with regional organizations, these trails provide safe, scenic ways to explore quieter sections of Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley, as well as select smaller lakes within LBL. Water trails are designed with paddlers in mind and often follow protected coves, bays, and shoreline areas that offer calmer conditions and strong wildlife viewing opportunities.
Paddling these routes allows visitors to experience LBL from a different perspective, with close views of forests, wetlands, rocky shorelines, and open water. Wildlife sightings are common and can include waterfowl, wading birds, eagles, and other native species, depending on the season. Some water trail areas may have seasonal restrictions to protect wildlife habitats, so planning ahead is recommended.
