SMALL & QUIET
Energy Lake Campground
Energy Lake Campground is the smaller, laid-back campground inside Land Between the Lakes that still manages to pack in a lot to do.
Instead of sitting directly on the big open water, it’s set beside Energy Lake, an inland lake separated from Lake Barkley by an earthen dam, which keeps the vibe calmer and a little more “easy-mode” for paddling and swimming.
Camping here is a mix of well-defined campsites with electric hookups and primitive cabin rentals, making it a good fit for groups that don’t all camp the same way. You’ll find 13 primitive cabins and dozens of campsites, with electric available at most sites.

What people love about Energy is that you can keep things simple and still stay busy. There’s a designated swimming beach, playground, and activity field, plus easy access to short walks and nearby trails when you need a break from the water.
Energy Lake is also one of the few places inside LBL where you can rent canoes and kayaks in season, which is a big win for visitors who didn’t bring their own gear.
And because it’s a popular spot for scouts, school groups, reunions, and team trips, it works especially well for campers who want a friendly campground feel without the “big campground” bustle.
